Abstract :
The Gibbsian thermodynamics of adsorption at a line of three-phase contact is briefly recalled. The adsorptions are obtained as derivatives of the line tension with respect to the independent field variables in the system. The law with which the adsorptions diverge at a wetting transition is obtained and discussed. A possible application of the results is to three-phase equilibrium in a three-component fluid mixture, in particular, at the wetting transitions that could occur between the system’s two critical endpoints.
