Abstract :
We present a simple and practical method to calculate the electrical double layer (EDL) interaction force/energy profiles between two planar plates using the general Poisson–Boltzmann equation (PBE). This method can be applied to any electrolytes or a mixture of electrolytes with dissimilar surfaces. Our approach to solve the general Poisson–Boltzmann equation avoids complex mathematics and provides a better physical meaning. The simple and direct calculation algorithm is easy to implement in programming and efficient in computation.
