Abstract :
In this paper we introduce a model, which describes the possible nature of the stabilising mechanism in liquid metallic foams. It relies mainly on the fact that partly wetted particles can generate a disjoining force preventing the films from rupturing and thus the pores from coalescing, equivalent to the disjoining pressure in aqueous foams. Although the model is based on rather simple assumptions, it succeeds to quantitatively explain the behaviour and structure of lead foams obtained from different precursor materials.
