Hamaker constants of solids in di-octylphthalate

Measurements of the refractive index of di-octylphthalate (DOP) as a function of wavelength in the visible range are presented. These data are used to calculate Hamaker constants for calcite, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and fused silica in this liquid and in air. Practical implications in the use of DOP as a continuous phase for dispersions of these solids are discussed.
