Abstract :
A series of commercial fibers (carbowax–divinylbenzene, carboxen–polydimethylsiloxane, polydimethylsiloxe–divinylbenzene, divinylbenzene/carboxen polydimethylsiloxane and polyacrylate were evaluated for pre-concentration of acetone in cyclohexane by solid phase microextraction (SPME). Fibers were evaluated in terms of exposure time, extraction temperature and stirring. Best results were observed for divinylbenzene/carboxen polydimethylsiloxane with extraction temperature of 40 °C and 15 min of extraction time. The quantification range was situated at ppb level. Evaluation of the method in an industrial polymerization plant effluent was shown to be efficient.
