Abstract :
The electrorheological (ER) performance of submicron-sized hollow polyaniline (PANI) dicarboxylate salt form as an anhydrous ER materials suspended in a silicone oil, was studied under several applied external field strength. The influences of alkyl chain length, functional group, and hollow sphere of the novel synthesized PANI salt derivatives was focus on this paper, and their suspensions showed good ER response and dispersion stability. Throughout the experimental results, for hollow PANI derivatives ER performance decreased with increasingly alkyl chain length, possibly long chains are less electrically polarizable.
