Abstract
The purpose of this study was to provide a qualitative description of womenʹs experiences of divorcing and building a new life. Interviews with 10 divorced women were conducted, transcribed, and analyzed using the constant comparative method. Four phases were identified in the process of divorcing and building a new life: the emotional divorce, making the decision, pulling apart, and moving beyond. Feelings and coping strategies reported by the participants are described.
