Abstract :
A titania containing calcium and phosphate with rough and porous structure was prepared by plasma electrolytic oxidation at different voltages. The composition and microstructure were examined. The mechanical properties including bonding strength, elastic modulus and residual stress were also investigated. The results show that with the increase of the applied voltage, pore size increases. Usually the composition of the layer is anatase and rutile. At higher voltage such as 400 V and 450 V, a new phase CaTiO3 appears. The residual stress test shows that the titania layer contains compressive residual stress and with the increasing of the applied voltage, the residual stress is increasing. Elastic modulus of the titania layer increases with the improvement of the applied voltage. The bonding strength of the entire layer is above 30 MPa.
