Abstract :
The usefulness of a forced flow cell in preparing composite layers several microns in thickness has been amply demonstrated. In the tested cell, the electrolyte is pumped and reintroduced into the cell by little holes situated in front of the substrate. Ni–Co/Fe12O19Ba0.2Sr0.8 composites have been prepared by using sulfamate electroplating bath. Different concentrations of barium–strontium ferrite microparticles (0–20 gl−1) were used in the bath. The cell allows a good distribution of the particles into the metallic matrix to be obtained. A maximum ferrite incorporation of 20 wt.% was obtained. Changes in microstructure, mechanical and magnetic properties were studied in correlation with the percentage of particles incorporated in the CoNi matrix.
