Abstract :
Samarium diiodide catalyzes the ring opening of meso-epoxides by several aromatic amines affording β-aminoalcohols at room temperature. The use of bis-binaphthoxy iodo samarium allows an enantioselective desymmetrization of cyclohexene oxide by o-anisidine.
