Abstract
Ring enlargement of ansa-steroids leads to a variety of novel templates which are suitable for the preparation of diverse libraries of natural product derivatives. Key steps for the synthesis of these highly functionalized templates were either an ozonolysis-derivatization-ring closing metathesis-sequence or a macrolactonization.
