Abstract
Aromatic nucleophilic substitution (SNAr) reaction of 1-phenyl-o-carborane with 4-nitrofluorobenzene in the presence of NaH or KOtBu proceeded smoothly to give 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-2-phenyl-o-carborane; similar reaction affords various 1,2-diaryl-o-carboranes, which are useful precursors for macromolecular construction and drug design.
