Abstract :
Sudden death in the athlete is a rare occurrence, yet there is evidence that screening may reduce this tragedy. Pre-participation screening programs differ between the United States and Italy. The causes of sudden death in this young, athletic population are reviewed, as are each programʹs merits and pitfalls.
