Abstract :
The ‘fully protected backbone’ (FPB) strategy has been efficiently adapted to the solid-phase synthesis of homothymine, homocytosine and ‘mixed’ pyrimidine PNAs. This versatile and simple method avoids the preparation of PNA monomers and relies on easy available starting materials, highly efficient backbone elongations and effective nucleobase units condensations.
