Abstract :
A series of discotic liquid crystals formed by simple hydrogen bonding between phloroglucinol core and alkoxystilbazole peripheral units was prepared. Nematic columnar and hexagonal columnar mesophases were observed depending on the length of alkyl chains around the aromatic core.
