Abstract
The copper(II) porphyrin 1, bearing a fused methylenepropano ring, undergoes an unusual self-sensitized photo-oxygenation reaction in the presence of DBU to give a high yield of a cofacial bis-porphyrin 7 under very mild conditions. The structures of compounds 1 and 7 were confirmed by X-ray crystallography.
