Abstract :
Hydroboration of trans-4-octene by pinacolborane was carried out using oxidised Wilkinson’s catalyst to afford 1-octanol in high yields. Wilkinson’s catalyst in conjunction with microwave irradiation also provided a convenient and rapid route to the terminal pinacolboronate ester.
