Abstract
The first step in the oxidation of ascorbate with substituted nitrosobenzenes is a proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) reaction and the observed kinetic isotope effects in the reaction, k H 2 O / k D 2 O , change dramatically with a change in solvent polarity, in line with known theoretical predictions.
