Abstract :
Selective DDQ oxidation of 2,5-bis(methylmethoxy)-1,4-di(octyloxy)benzene generates an unsymmetrical subunit suitable for the preparation of substituted tetrameric oligo(phenylenevinylenes) in good to excellent yields.
