2-(N-Hydroxylamino) sulfone synthesis by indium–iodine-triggered aza-Michael type addition of nitroarenes to vinyl sulfones

One-pot reduction-triggered 1,4-addition reaction of various nitroarenes to the α,β-unsaturated sulfones was investigated. In the presence of indium/iodine in MeOH at room temperature, nitroarenes reduced in situ reacted with vinyl sulfones and produced β-(N-hydroxylamino) sulfones in good yields.
