Stepwise synthesis and properties of a 9,10-dihydro-9,10-diboraanthracene

A stepwise synthetic method for 9,10-dihydro-9,10-diboraanthracene was developed, and the optical and electrochemical properties as well as the molecular structure of the 9,10-dihydro-9,10-diboraanthracene were elucidated. The 9,10-dihydro-9,10-diboraanthracene exhibited high complexation ability against fluoride ion, and the complexation was accompanied by the enhancement of photoluminescence emission, probably due to intramolecular charge transfer between the two boron atoms.
