Abstract :
In conclusion, in adult subjects with intracardiac left-to-right shunting, the oximetric technique provides estimates of shunt magnitude that are somewhat larger than those of indocyanine green (Figure 1). At the same time, the 2 techniques yield results that are within 20% of one another in almost half the patients, and they are in agreement with one another concerning the Qp/Qs being < or ≥1.5 in 85% (Table I and Figure 1). The likelihood that the 2 techniques will agree that the Qp/Qs is < or ≥1.5 is greatest (p = 0.05) in patients with shunting at the level of the atrium.
