Abstract :
The diastereoselective aminoconjugate addition of benzylamine and lithiobenzylamine to both E and Z-configured vinylogous proline derivatives has been investigated. The results from this study have enabled the stereoselective synthesis of the 1-aminopyrrolizidine alkaloid (−)-absouline.
