Direct-current cardioversion for the conversion of atrial flutter

Hemodynamically stable atrial flutter should be treated with DC cardioversion using 200 J as an initial setting. This can be accomplished in an outpatient setting, saving the cost of hospitalization and avoiding the hazards of drug therapy.
