Abstract :
In conclusion, although adenosine produced slight decreases in conduction times for premature impulses, there was a proportionally greater decrease in functional refractory period resulting in a decrease in wavelength. A shorter wavelength increases the probability that reentry will occur and may provide a basis for transient atrial fibrillation which is sometimes observed after adenosine administration.
