Abstract :
4-Aryl-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-thione scaffolds of Biginelli type were oxidized using (diacetoxyiodo)benzene and the reaction afforded 2-(1,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-ylthio)pyrimidine derivatives through an unprecedented oxidation–desulfurization process.
