Abstract :
Our findings suggest that patients with recurrent ischemia after infarction have plaque characteristics similar to other patients with unstable angina, but differ from them with respect to the incidence and amount of associated thrombus. A red thrombus, frequently occlusive, appears to play a significant pathogenic role in patients with recurrent ischemia after infarction. Conversely, in other patients with unstable angina red thrombi are not universally present, and occlusive thrombi are rare.
