The relationship between dynamics and structure in the far infrared absorption spectrum of liquid water

Using an intense source of far infrared radiation, the absorption spectrum of liquid water is measured at a temperature ranging from 269 to 323 K. In the infrared spectrum we observe modes that are related to the local structure of liquid water. Here we present a FIR measured spectrum that is sensitive to the low frequency (<100 cm−1) microscopic details that exist in liquid water.
