Abstract :
In this work we consider the solvation of excess electrons in charge pockets on molecular surfaces by methanol (CH3OH). The electron entrapment on these molecular surfaces occurs by solvation of the excess electron. Recent computations suggest that charge pockets on surfaces can form by which OH groups situated on one side of the surface (that create hydrogen bonded networks) coupled to the hydrogen atoms on the opposite side of a surface can form positive charge pockets that attracts negative charge. The excess electron is then further stabilized by methanol.
