Abstract :
Polarisation labelling spectroscopy has been used to study the previously unobserved 51Πu state of the Li2 molecule. Molecular constants are derived from a Dunham expansion and the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) potential curve is constructed. Absolute vibrational numbering of the 51Πu state is determined by observation of the isotope effect. The values of Te, ωe and Be are 36390.97(2), 232.03(3) and 0.46832(4) cm−1, respectively.
