Abstract :
Based on the recently reported absolute H atom quantum yield of water on 121.6 nm photodissociation, φ H 121.6 ( H 2 O ) = 1.39 ± 0.09 , we have tried to interpret previously measured H atom quantum yield of CHF2Cl, which results in an abnormal H atom quantum yield of φ H 121.6 ( CHF 2 Cl ) = 1.05 , suggesting C–H bond selective dissociation in presence of weaker C–Cl bond in CHF2Cl. In view of this unusual result, we have tried to look for some possible sources of discrepancies.
