Abstract
It was verified that the H2S + NO3 reaction may take place by the H-atom abstraction channel that yields SH and HNO3, and the O-atom abstraction channel that produces H2SO and NO2. The rate coefficient for the H-atom abstraction channel in gas phase is around 1.3 × 10−15 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 and in water phase is much faster, <1.3 × 1010 L mol−1 s−1 at 298 K. The activation energy, Ea, for the H-atom abstraction channel is less than 1 kcal mol−1. The O-atom abstraction channel is unimportant in gas and water phases at 298 K.
