Luminescence study of the N+ + O2 collisions

A beam of atomic nitrogen ions N+ collided with the gas target of O2 molecules at energies between 20 and 1000 eV in the laboratory frame. The O2+(A-X) and O2+(b-a) luminescence and several atomic lines of neutral and ionized oxygen were observed. The excitation function has been measured and the luminescence cross section and photon yield were estimated.
