Abstract :
A laboratory study was conducted to determine the efficiency of Coriandrum sativum seed essential oil for Sitophilus granarius control. The bioactivity of the essential oil extracted by hydrodistillation from the seed of C. sativum was assessed under laboratory conditions for it’s biological activity against S. granarius in chickpea grains. The components of the essential oil were identified through GC, and GC–MS. The identity of 17 constituent compounds of the essential oil was confirmed and their relative proportion was determined. Linalool has the highest percentage composition in the C. sativum seed essential oil (73.11%). All essential oil dosages showed a significant level of toxicity to the insect after 5 days.
