Abstract :
Under solvothermal conditions, a 1-D ladder polymer [CoL1.5(NO3)2] (1) was prepared from Co(NO3)2·6H2O and a dipyridyl-type ligand, N,N′-bis-pyridin-4-ylmethylene-naphthalene-1,5-diamine (L) in methanol. Co(NO3)2·6H2O reacted with dicarboxylic acids such as biphenyl-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid (bpdcH2) and 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid (ndcH2) in dma–ethanol to produce 3-D polymers, [Co1.5(bpdc)1.5(dma)]·(dma)·(EtOH) (2) and [Co1.5(ndc)1.5(dma)2] (3), respectively. In dmf–ethanol, another 3-D polymer [Co3(ndc)3(dmf)4] (4) was prepared from Co(NO3)2·6H2O and ndcH2. Finally, a 3-D polymer [CoL(bpdc)]·(EtOH) (5), whose framework is made up of bpdc2− and L, could be prepared. All polymers were structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. Polymers 2 and 5 contain guest molecules in their frameworks.
