Abstract :
The region of lyotropic liquid phase formed in the TTAB + water + decanol ternary system are reported. There is one isotropic phase (isotropic L1) and five anisotropic phases, namely nematic calamitic Nc, nematic discotic Nd, nematic biaxial Nbx, hexagonal E, lamellar D mesophases. The anisotropic phases were determined by polarized microscope. The textures of the present ternary system were discussed in comparison with the textures of the binary TTAB + water system and non-specific textures caused by mechanical deformations investigated.
