Abstract :
The crystal structure of {K[(H2O)@Q[5]][Zn(H2O)3Cl]} ZnCl4·6(H2O) (1) is reported. It consists of an infinite 1D supramolecular chain constructed of heterometallic zinc and potassium ions/cucurbit[5]uril capsules held together through ion–dipole interactions and hydrogen bonding, and forms a novel hexagonal open framework.
