Abstract :
The polymerization of 2-(9-carbazolyl)methylthiirane (CMT) in the presence of cyclic oligo(potassium glycidoxide) as the macroinitiator activated 18-crown-6 leads to star-shaped polythioether with a cyclic core and mainly six arms, and with molecular masses relatively near to the calculated ones. A particularly intensive blue photoluminescence is shown by poly(CMT) in tetrahydrofuran solution at the concentration equal to 2 × 10−6 mol/dm3. This polymer dispersed in commercially available transparent polymers, i.e. poly(methyl methacrylate), polycarbonate or polystyrene gives blue photoluminescent materials.
