Abstract
The excess molar volumes VmE[xCH3(CH2)3NH2 + (1−x)(CH3CH2)2O or (1−x){CH3(CH2)2}2O or (1−x){CH3(CH2)3}2O or (1−x){(CH3)2CH}2O or (1−x)CH3CH2C(CH3)2OCH3 or (1−x)CH3C(CH3)2OCH3 or (1−x)c-(CH2)2O(CH2)2O or (1−x)c-(CH2)4O or (1−x)c-(CH2)5O] have been calculated from measured values of density over the whole composition range at the temperature 298.15 K in order to investigate the interactions between CH3(CH2)3NH2 and ROR′. The VmE values of the mixtures studied are positive with the exception of the mixtures [xCH3(CH2)3NH2 + (1−x)(CH3CH2)2O or + (1−x){(CH3)2CH}2O or + (1−x)CH3C(CH3)2OCH3]. For straight-chain, branched chain and cyclic ethers, VmE increases with increasing molecular weight. Together with the previously reported data for the molar excess enthalpy, the VmE data has been used to test the applicability of the ERAS model.
