  • Abstract
    The solubilities of oxygen in aqueous solutions containing ribose and raffinose were measured by a saturation method. These sugars are usually used as key components of fermentation media in related industries. The measurements were carried out at 298.15, 303.15 and 310.15 K, as these temperatures are adequate to the fermentation conditions. tended scaled-particle theory proposed by Hu et al. was used to correlate the solubilities of oxygen in the solutions measured in this work. By using the size parameter determined as a function of molecular weight of each sugar, the solubilities of oxygen in aqueous sugar solution systems could be calculated with a mean deviation of 1.6%.
