Abstract :
Densities ρ and volumetric heat capacities Cp/V of a few α,ω-dibromoalkanes (1,2-dibromoethane, 1,3-dibromopropane, 1,4-dibromobutane, 1,5-dibromopentane, 1,6-dibromohexane) have been measured within the temperature range 288–328 K using a vibrating tube densimeter and a differential scanning calorimeter, respectively. The molar heat capacities at constant pressure, Cp, have been obtained by combining ρ and Cp/V data. The Cp group contributions for the CH2 and Br group have been determined by the group additivity analysis.
