Abstract
The fluid phase behaviour of a two-dimensional binary mixture interacting via Lennard–Jones (LJ) potentials is investigated using thermodynamic perturbation theory (TPT). The reference system uses approximate, but accurate, analytic forms for a binary mixture of hard disks of equal diameter. It is also assumed that the Lorentz–Berthelot combination rules hold for the unlike pair interaction. In this work, results are presented for the pressure–temperature–composition surface for the Type I gas–liquid equilibria-phase diagram. A few points obtained via Gibbs Ensemble Monte Carlo simulations are also presented and compared with theory.
