Abstract
theoretical model for the growth of delaminations of the protective coating of a metal is suggested. This process is sustained by the diffusion of atomic hydrogen dissolved in the metal into cavities formed. n equation describing the growth of a penny-shaped delamination is derived and solved analytically. An expression for the incubation time is obtained. It is shown that when lhe incubation time elapses, the delamination contour begins to expand at a finite constant velocity, just as in the case of a crack in an infinite elastic continuum [1].
