Abstract
NewPlt is an instrument-independent program for inelastic and quasi-elastic neutron data treatment, analysis and visualisation, which is presently implemented in a VAX/VMS environment but is suitable to be transferred to UNIX and other multi-tasking operative systems. It is a modular DEC-FORTRAN program, structured upon menus, allowing the user to perform basic operations on data. Frequently used commands and choices can be saved as macros.
reatment includes binning, smoothing, algebraic operations involving the single spectra. The fitting process can be performed on a whole set of spectra; the user can link its own fitting model to the main program.
aphic part is based on GKS libraries and an emulation of three-dimensional (3-D) display is provided, along with a choice among different screen and printing output devices.
an be read and saved at any time of the analysis. This means that the operations can be performed independently from each other. A number of different formats for data input and output are provided.
rrection program NewCor allowing quasi-elastic and inelastic data correction and conversion from the cross-section to the structure factor with direct access to NewPlt features is also presented.
