Abstract :
The traditional application of transition radiation detectors (TRDs) is restricted to particle identification. However a new application of TRDs in high energy physics may be advantageous, namely as a threshold device with high rejection ability for subthreshold particles of known masses, for example, in muon detectors of future high luminosity collider experiments. We describe the results on the Monte Carlo simulations of such a threshold TRD.
