Abstract :
In wireless communication, signal fading is the deviation or the attenuation that a carrier-modulated signal experiences over a certain propagation media. The fading is due to a number of factors, which can be as a result of multipath propagation, known as multipath fading or due to shadowing from obstacles affecting the wave propagation, sometimes referred to as shadow fading and so on. Code division Multiple access (CDMA) 20001X as a 3G network suffers the phenomenon of multipath fading. In order to minimize signal fading and loss of information, in the wireless network, an effective modulation technique need to be used. Therefore, this paper presents analysis of CDMA20001x performance in Rayleigh fading channel using QPSK modulation technique. Matlab 7. 0 was used for simulation and evaluation of bit error rate and signal-to noise ratio for CDMA20001X. The performance of CDMA20001X in AWQN channels shows that QPSK modulation technique has a better performance compared to that of 16-QAM.
