Spontaneous emission in a longitudinal wiggler magnetic field

We study the undulator brightness and central wavelength expression of a free electron laser with a longitudinal polarised wiggler field. The analysis is based on the evaluation of the Lienard-Wiechert potential retaining the condition of far field only. Some features of the longitudinal undulator are presented for a comparison with the results relevant to the brightness of a conventional undulator.
