Abstract
Extensions and tests of a method are presented which allow charged particle spectra from thick targets to be corrected for energy and particle losses incurred as the particle escapes the target. Earlier results are reproduced by application of the method to the 12C(n,α x) reaction and to alpha decay of uranium-234. Limitations of the method are explored by application to Monte Carlo simulations of alpha decay and spectra. The method is applied to recent results of the 28Si(n,α x) reaction at 50 MeV.
