Abstract :
Results are reported on the performance of a novel sagittally focussing crystal monochromator design that minimizes the anticlastic bending without the use of ribs. With a demagnification factor of 3.57, 2.2 mrad of the radiation from an NSLS bending magnet are focussed to a spot size with a FWHM of 363 μm which is 12% larger than the ideal focus size with a beam intensity 2.0×109photons s−1 mA−1 at 8 keV. The beam intensity changes by 5% when changing the sagittal bend radius from 1.81 to 4.09 m thereby demonstrating that the anticlastic curvature effect is negligible.
