Abstract
It is expected that nuclear detectors are exposed to radiation when they are used near accelerators. The purpose of this report is to study the radiation and annealing effects of AuSi surface barrier nuclear detectors, and to make clear deep levels of the defects produced by irradiation. Irradiations are performed by 10 MeV α-particles with the cyclotron. As a result of this experiment, characteristics of the irradiated detectors show that reverse currents increase accordingly as reverse biases increase, and for 241Am α-particle (5.48 MeV) counting response the energy spectra shift to the lower side compared with that of non-irradiated detectors. The deep levels for the defects are observed at Ec − 0.39 eV by DLTS measurements.
